The cathedral that rose from the flames. After the fire on April 15, 2019, and following a reconstruction that took 5 years of relentless work, Notre-Dame Cathedral reopens its doors to the public.
On April 15, 2019, a fire whose cause is still unknown caused catastrophic damage to Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Two thirds of the roof structure were destroyed, the central spire collapsed onto the vaults, and the rose windows were damaged. Even so, there was luck: the temple did not collapse and many of its greatest artistic treasures survived the flames.
A union between past and present, through which architects, engineers, archaeologists and artisans have restored Notre-Dame to the splendor of its finest years.
To rebuild, in the 21st century, a cathedral that began rising in the 12th, ancestral techniques for working stone and wood were combined with drones, 3D models and state-of-the-art scanners.
